Yr 11 Hospitality Students are involved in a very successful catering business that head hospitality teacher Mrs. Sue Brock heads. Whenever there is a function, the whole class assist in all preparation for catering functions. Four students usually work at the function and these students are rostered so everyone gets an opportunity to assist.
Two courses are always offered with an alternate menu as well as special dietary needs catered for such as celiac and diabetes sufferers.
Up until now the NHHS hospitality group have raised $10,000.00 for the school which has gone towards purchasing virtually all the appliances and equipment being used by the current hospitality students. The money has also gone towards purchasing their very own Nambucca Heads High School catering business shirts and badges to wear when they are working at functions.
Amongst the many functions they have catered for include conferences for Nambucca Shire Council and Valla Lions. The Hospitality students often cater for up to 60 guests with a two course alternate menu.
Fourth term will see the beginning of a new commercial kitchen and al fresco dining area to be installed. This will be ready for all students t the beginning of 2011.
Many of NHHS schools ex hospitality students have gone on to forge careers in Sydney, Brisbane and locally. Well done.
